Direct Mode
Voice to text, exactly as you say it. No AI, no editing, no surprises.
How It Works
Switch to Direct mode
Short press Fn + Ctrl to cycle modes until you see Direct in the menu bar.
Hold and speak
Long press Fn + Ctrl, say what you want, and release when you're done.
Text appears at your cursor
Your speech is transcribed verbatim and inserted wherever your cursor is — no AI processing, no delays.
What You Get
Direct mode gives you a raw, faithful transcription of your speech. That means:
- Filler words ("um", "uh", "like") are kept
- Grammar mistakes are not corrected
- Sentence structure follows your spoken cadence
- Fastest response time — no AI round-trip
Best For
Quick notes and braindumps
Capture ideas as they come without waiting for AI processing.
Search queries
Voice-type into Google, Spotlight, or any search bar.
Form fields and short inputs
Fill in names, addresses, or any text field where you want exact words.
Transcription work
When you need a faithful record of what was said, not a polished version.
Direct vs Polish — When to Use Which
Use Direct when...
You want speed and accuracy over polish. Search bars, quick notes, form fields, or any time the exact words matter.
Use Polish when...
You're writing something others will read — emails, documents, messages. Polish removes filler words and fixes grammar while keeping your tone.
