Getting Started
Get up and running with VoxInk in under 2 minutes.
Install
Download VoxInk
Get the Mac app from our website or add the Chrome extension from the Chrome Web Store.
Grant Permissions
VoxInk needs Microphone access to hear your voice and Accessibility access to type text into other apps. macOS will prompt you automatically.
Sign In (Optional)
Sign in with Google to sync your usage across Mac and Chrome. You can skip this and sign in later from Settings.
Your First Voice Input
VoxInk lives in your menu bar. The hotkey is:
Fn + Ctrl
- Short press — cycle between modes (Polish → Direct → Translate)
- Long press — hold to talk, release to send text to your cursor
Four Modes
Polish
Speak freely and get clean, well-written text. AI removes filler words, fixes grammar, and preserves your tone. Best for emails, documents, and messages.
Direct
Voice to text, exactly as you say it. No AI editing. Best for quick notes, search queries, and when you want raw transcription.
Translate
Speak in your language, output in another. Say it in Chinese, get English text. Perfect for messaging colleagues who speak a different language.
Listen
Real-time translated captions. Turn it on during a call or meeting — see what others say, translated to your language in real-time. Like having a personal interpreter.
Listen Mode — Quick Guide
- Click the Listen button in the VoxInk menu
- A browser tab opens with live captions
- Choose your subtitle language from the dropdown
- Everything said through your speakers is transcribed and translated
- Click Stop Listening in the menu to end
Noise Cancellation
Toggle noise cancellation on/off from the menu bar. When on, VoxInk filters out background voices and ambient noise, so only your voice is captured. Best for open offices and noisy environments.
Privacy Mode
When Privacy Mode is on, nothing is saved — not locally, not in the cloud. Your speech is processed in real-time and discarded immediately. Toggle it from the menu bar anytime.
